Overview

The SIG SAUER TANGO6T is a 1-6x24mm first focal plane low-power variable optic (LPVO) that originated as a U.S. military contract scope and has since reached the civilian market in two distinct configurations. Both share the same chassis, glass, and core feature set, but differ in reticle, included accessories, and intended ammunition pairing. The TANGO6T sits in the same class as other premium 1-6x FFP LPVOs, with the added pedigree of being fielded by SOCOM and other DoD entities.

Shared Hardware and Optical Specs

Regardless of variant, every TANGO6T 1-6x24mm uses the same physical optic. The relevant numbers:

  • Magnification: 1-6x
  • Focal Plane: First (FFP)
  • Maintube: 30mm
  • Weight: 22.1 oz
  • Adjustment: 0.2 MRAD clicks, 20 MRAD per rotation, 31 MRAD total elevation and windage travel
  • Field of View at 100 yds: 105.8 ft at 1x / 17.7 ft at 6x
  • Eye Relief: 4.1” / 3.9”
  • Exit Pupil: 11.4mm / 4.0mm
  • Diopter Range: +/- 2.5
  • Waterproofing: IPX-8 (continuous immersion at 20 meters), argon-purged
  • Illumination: 9 daylight settings plus 2 NV settings, locking dial, CR2032 battery

Common features across both variants include extra-low dispersion glass with broadband anti-reflection coatings, a Mil-Spec oleophobic coating, abrasion-resistant lens coatings, and “deflection armor” trapezoidal checkered surfacing on the body. A laser-engraved mounting line on the tube simplifies leveling the scope in rings or a one-piece mount. Both ship with a throw lever, SIG lenspen, CR2032 battery, and hex wrench. Both are assembled in the USA and covered by SIG’s Infinite Guarantee.

Standard TANGO6T (DWLR6 Reticle)

The standard configuration ships as a bare optic — no mount, no caps, no ARD. It uses the DWLR6 reticle, a BDC-style horseshoe optimized for both 55gr 5.56 and 175gr 7.62x51, making it the more flexible choice if the optic might move between an AR-15 and a 7.62 platform, or if the rifle in question is running 55gr ammunition.

Parallax is set at 150 meters.

What’s in the box:

  • TANGO6T optic
  • Throw lever
  • SIG lenspen
  • CR2032 battery
  • Hex wrench

This is the configuration to choose if the user already has a preferred mount (a Geissele Super Precision, Reptilia AUS, Scalarworks LEAP, or similar) or wants to spec their own rings to a specific height.

TANGO6T DVO Variant (DWLR-556 Reticle)

The DVO is a contract overrun — the same TANGO6T body, but built to a specific DoD configuration and pulled out for the commercial market in limited quantity. It is sold pre-assembled and ready to mount on a rifle out of the box.

Key differences from the standard version:

  • Reticle: DWLR-556, specific to the DVO and optimized for 62gr 5.56mm from a 16” barrel (typically aligning with M855A1-class loadings). It is more 5.56-specific than the dual-caliber DWLR6, with fewer wind dots, and goes out to 800 meters.
  • Parallax: Set at 300 meters instead of 150m.
  • Mount: Ships with the SIG 1.54” ALPHA4 cantilever mount factory-installed. The ALPHA4 was previously unavailable on the commercial market and has been widely fielded by U.S. DoD.
  • Anti-Reflection Device: Includes a killflash ARD that threads into the objective. The honeycomb pattern on this particular ARD is comparatively spaced out, so it intrudes less on the sight picture at 1x than some others.
  • Scope Caps: Magnetically retained lay-flat flip-back caps included.

What’s in the box:

  • TANGO6T optic
  • SIG 1.54” ALPHA4 mount (pre-installed)
  • Killflash ARD
  • Throw lever
  • SIG lenspen
  • CR2032 battery
  • Hex key
  • Two scope caps

Because the DVO is a contract overrun, anodizing color can vary between units — some examples are noticeably darker brown than others. This applies to both the scope body and the mount. It is purely cosmetic.

Choosing Between the Two

The decision essentially comes down to ammunition, mount preference, and budget:

  • DVO — best fit for a 14.5” or 16” 5.56 carbine running 62gr / M855A1-class ammunition, especially for users who want a turnkey package with a known-good mount, ARD, and caps already included. Parallax at 300m suits typical mid-range carbine work.
  • Standard TANGO6T — best fit for users who want to source their own mount, want the dual-caliber 55gr/175gr DWLR6 reticle, or are running a different ammunition profile than the DVO is calibrated for. The 150m parallax also better suits closer-range use.

The DVO is the more expensive of the two due to the bundled hardware, but the included ALPHA4 mount, killflash, and lay-flat caps account for that delta. For a user who would have purchased those components separately anyway, the DVO is the more economical path; for everyone else, the standard version is the leaner buy.

Throw Lever and Setup Notes

Both variants include a three-position throw lever that can be installed on either side or in the center of the power selector ring, depending on user preference and mount geometry. T.REX recommends a 100-meter zero for the TANGO6T on most rifles, with an 8.5” x 11” zero target included with every rifle optic purchase.

Both configurations are restricted to U.S. shipping only.
